Let’s face it, Melbourne. We have a problem.
Hand in hand with our fascination obsession with coffee, we are producing tonnes of waste, some of which is not as recyclable as we hope.
This week, ABC TVs War on Waste shared some shocking statistics on takeaway coffee cup consumption. It made a big impact on us at EARL.
When choosing packaging, we have always focussed on recycled and recyclable materials for takeaway items (and pay for the privilege).
In EARL stores with seating, we offer ‘have here’ options for made to order breakfast and lunch, served in/on ceramics, as of next week, this will include Wholebowls too.
In light of War on Waste’s segment, we’ve realised we can take our efforts one step further by incentivising BYO coffee cups.
Starting Monday 5th of June, we are offering $2.5o standard coffees in #BYOCoffeeCups for one week. This might mean you shout yourself a fancy glass or plastic reusable cup, or just grab a nice clean one one from the office kitchen. Alternatively, we will have limited numbers of Keep Cups available from our friends at Campos to purchase in our stores.
Ongoing, we will offer a discount of .30 for each coffee made in a #BYOCoffeeCup.
Go on, Melbourne – get behind this one.
